The Vision of STONES CROSSING CHURCH

Belong // Become // Beyond

We believe that our Christian faith is a journey where the Lord himself leads us one step at a time.

BELONG: He calls us to BELONG to Him through his salvation and baptism and to belong to each other as the body of Christ through membership and genuine community.

BECOME: He calls us to BECOME more like Jesus through discipleship and the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit.

BEYOND: Finally, the Lord calls us to live BEYOND ourselves by telling others the great news of the gospel message -- that Jesus Christ has bought us with his own blood and that he makes us righteous before God.

What We See In the Future:

We see a Church intensely Kingdom focused.

The church we see welcomes over 1500 members into the fellowship of our family--loving, learning, laughing and living in harmony and diversity together under the Lordship of Christ. We see a people being conformed to the image of Christ through repentance, fervent prayer and the study of Scripture.

We see a Church relentlessly pursuing God’s presence.

We see a church where miracles and the wonders of God are spoken of, experienced and celebrated. We see a church passionate about the corporate and private worship of God with heartfelt praise.

We see a Church compassionately loving people.

We see a church where the hurting, the depressed, the confused can find love, acceptance, help, healing, forgiveness and guidance through the presence of Jesus Christ.

We see a Church intentionally developing leaders.

The Church we see is a Church committed to training and empowering each new generation of leaders. We see a church where leaders thrive and teams work together to achieve God sized goals.

We see a Church humbly serving the community.

The Church we see is a winsome church of influence. The Church we see is demonstrating God’s love in thousands of practical ways throughout our community.

We see a Church boldly sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

The Church we see has a message so captivating and clear that lives are forever changed by it’s proclamation. We see a church where every person is living on mission equipped and empowered to tell their story of life change both locally and globally, both in word and deed.

We see a Church joyfully equipping marriages and families for Christ-first living.

We see a church fervently committed to equipping and partnering with parents to lead children, students and “20 Somethings” in a growing relationship with Jesus Christ. We see a church strengthening thousands of marriages in the next five years.

We Believe

God

There is only one true and living God, and He exists eternally in three Persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit, each of which is equally deserving of our worship and obedience.

Mankind

We are made in the image of God, to be like Him in character, the supreme object of His creation. Adam's sin of disobedience made all of mankind subject to the wrath of God, inherently corrupt and utterly incapable of living in a manner acceptable to God. Every human born since Adam has been sinful by nature. Therefore, our salvation is entirely though faith and the redemptive death of Jesus Christ.

Eternity

Every person will exist eternally either separated from God or in union with God. To be eternally separated from God is hell and to be eternally in union with Him is heaven.

Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ is co-equal with God the Father and in His accepting the characteristics of humanity, Jesus became simultaneously both fully man and fully God. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless human life, and laid aside His right to the prerogatives of coexistence with God, instead taking on the status of a servant. He accomplished our redemption through His sacrificial death on the cross, was resurrected and ascended to heaven. His death was voluntary and was made in full substitution for us, that we might be freed from the punishment for our sins.

Salvation

Salvation is gained by submissive faith in Christ alone, and not by any work of man. Our salvation was purchased by the shed blood of Christ. We did not deserve it. We could never earn it. We can never lose it. No power in the universe can separate God's children from Him.

The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is the third divine person of the trinity, co-equal with God the Father and Jesus the Son. His work is to convict the world of sin, to sanctify, instruct, administer spiritual gifts and empower the church for service and seal believers to the day of redemption.

The Bible

The Bible is God's special, inerrant and sufficient revelation to man. Every word of the 66 books of the Bible is God-breathed, inspired, and unique among all written religious documents.

The Return of Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ will return to the Earth, at a time that cannot be known to man. When He returns, He will call forth all believers, who will be called forth from the Earth. There will be a seven-year tribulation period after which Christ will come to Earth to where He will reign for a thousand years. At the close of that millennium, the saved will enter an eternal state of perfect fellowship with God and with one another.
